Manchester City-Inter Milan ratings
The Cityzens won 1-0 despite a little successful performance.
-
2/12
Ederson (8/10)
We first saw him participate in the raise, also missing a long ball from the left. He was then essential with a first stop, solid, in front of Lautaro (59th), against repelling a header from Lukaku who also shot him (89th)! A final aerial outing (94th) and a final parade on a header from Gosens (96th) to secure the title for his team.
-
3/12
John Stones (7)
A huge burst of energy, not only for recovery, but also for creating danger. The central defense did not even play in the middle of double-pivot defense with Rodri, but right torchbearer with a diamond in the middle. He rose in power in a rather incredible way and made differences with the ball in the opposing camp.
-
4/12
Francesco Acerbi (7)
A 35-year-old, he achieved an almost flawless final. The central defense (in libero of the hinge at 3) showed intelligence to make up for its slowness against Haaland, winning at the same time in the duels against the Norwegian cyborg.
-
5/12
Philip Foden (6)
Launched in the 36th minute in place of Bruyne, he took over the number 10 spot from Gündogan and broke free in the gap a few times to crash into the goal. He could even have scored the winning goal after a magnificent control (78th).
-
6/12
Rodrigo (6)
He remains forever the decisive scorer of this Mancunian coronation, with a well-placed strike on an opposing dismissal (68th). However, the Spanish environment had less influence than usual. Guardiola made him play alone in 6 (and not in double pivot with Stones), he was little found and took few risks. Stones was more entrepreneurial.
-
7/12
Manuel Akanji (6)
Serious defense, to the right of Ruben Dias (the most reliable of his own), he almost cost one but in fact slipped a pass back to Ederson (58th). But he is at the origin of the goal by launching Bernardo Silva in the box on the Mancunian goal (68th).
-
8/12
Marcelo Brozović (6)
Established at the expense of Mkhitaryan and captain of Inter, the Croatian midfielder was determined to play his team in the number 6 position, when Çalhanoglu had less weight in the ball outings. A great performance. He is even the source of Lukaku’s huge opportunity.
-
9/12
Kevin De Bruyne (unrated)
Violently hit by Rüdiger in 2011, this time he left his team half an hour into the game with a muscle injury. Perhaps too much pressure on his shoulders… “KDB” this time played a little lower and shifted to the left (Gündogan played in 10), to launch teammates in depth. It was by finding himself higher that he was able to make the difference, like launching Haaland (27th), before trying his luck (28th) and complaining about his hamstrings…
-
10/12
Jack Greish (4)
The Cityzens left winger failed to get rid of the pressure from Dumfries and did not go all the way with his ball percussion at the (Site notre bureau spécialisé). It made his team harmless on that side. Bernardo Silva, on the right, was well chased by Di Marco, but he was more useful in the circulation of the ball and is decisive on the goal (with a cross blocked).
-
11/12
Erling Haaland (4)
Silent during the two semi-finals against Real Madrid, he did not do better during this final. He did not exist against the 3 defenses made up of interists, only serving as a pivot once or twice. His power allows him to afford an opportunity but he hits directly on Onana (27th). He even gives a last dangerous free kick to Inter…
-
12/12
Lautaro Martinez (3.5)
He has the talent to make a difference on his own, he lacked genius. Disappointing. He spent himself as usual to lead the rare ties of Inter, but lacking in precision. Then he stumbles on Ederson when he could have done better (59th).
A look back at the outstanding performances in the 2023 Champions League final reported by Manchester City in front of Inter Milan (1-0), on a but from Rodrigo in the middle of the second half.
