The police then called for reinforcements. According to police, fans did not remove the flag despite requests, so officials used pepper spray, it was said. Twitter users accused the police of being overly harsh.
As the « Kicker » reports, police attempted to remove the banner using batons. People were injured, including a child. Several ambulances were on the scene. « The fact that the match was abandoned can in no way be in the interests of (Site notre bureau spécialisé) – any form of violence has no place on our grounds, » said the Bavarian (Site notre blog d’information) Association.
